CAIRO... MADISON... Next Stop: SACRAMENTO! MARCH 1... MARCH 2... MARCH 14... Budget cuts in the state of California and nationally continue nearly unabated. But as the walkouts and complete takeover of the capitol in Madison, Wisconsin show, fightback is possible and it is inspiring. We deserve more and we can demand more! Now is the time to educate ourselves about what is causing the budget crisis statewide, nationwide, worldwide and possible solutions. It is also the time to reawaken what it means to lobby our elected officials with both words and deeds. As Egypt and Wisconsin show: activism is back and it works. Please be a part of the Statewide Days of Action in March to defend public education by considering bringing your class to our teach-ins on March 1st, understanding in the case of your students walking out and rallying on March 2nd and/or helping get them to Sacramento on March 14th. March 1st: Teach-Ins to Fight the Cuts! 10am-2pm @ MUB140 There will be four separate hour-long teach-ins on different topics. Each teach-in will have a presentation followed by time for open discussion. We encourage classes to attend one or more. 10am-11am Corporations are Not People! David Cobb of Move to Amend (http://movetoamend.org/) will educate the community about the illegitimate legal doctrines that prevent the American people from governing ourselves and how we can try to end those doctrines. 11am-12pm Activism is Back. Club members of CCSF Save Our Schools and Students Making A Change will explore historic struggles that have helped win important rights that we are trying to preserve by fighting budget cuts today. 12pm-1pm Fred Glass, CFT Communications Director, presents on the causes of the current budget crisis and possible solutions. 1pm-2pm CCSF Professor Tim Killikelly will present on the causes of the current budget crisis and possible solutions. March 2nd Ocean Campus: Walk the Picket Line and Rally with SFSU & More! Schools all across the states of California and Wisconsin are having a day of action to defend public education (http://ca.defendpubliceducation.org/). Students at CCSF and CCSF must stand together against the rising fees at both schools and the increasing squeeze on faculty and staff in terms of disappearing COLA, course sections and classified positions. 11am-12noon Walk the picket line at 19th and Holloway with CFA SFSU and students! 12noon-1pm Rally and open mic in Malcolm X Plaza! 1pm-2pm March to CCSF Ocean Campus! 2pm-5pm Rally and speakout at the Amphitheater and Ram Plaza.
